One Exhibition, two venues. In partnership with the Textile Museum of Canada, Toronto (on exhibit at the Textile Museum from November 7, 2010 – May 1, 2011)
The exhibition includes a selection of Kai Chan’s sculptural works, created between 1975 and 2010. The exhibitions are presented concurrently at the Varley Art Gallery in Markham and the Textile Museum of Canada, in Toronto with the exhibition at the Textile Museum of Canada opening in early November. An exhibition catalogue will be published to accompany the exhibition. A Canadian artist with Chinese roots, Kai Chan’s story is one that echoes the experiences of many of us, as it is about how immigrants imagine belonging in Canada.
Thank you for joining us for an evening of fine Chinese cuisine at the Regal Palace Banquet Hall, and wonderful entertainment featuring Steven Ma Chun Wai, renown Hong Kong singer, actor and writer! The evening was an enjoyable one and we had great success raising funds to support the Varley Art Gallery’s Kai Chan: A Spider’s Logic.
We sincerely thank Sammy Lee (Varley-McKay Art Foundation Board Member), Natalis Wong, Suzanne Wong, Regal Palace, Fairchild Media and Gold sponsors Scotia Bank for all your support!
